Simple way to start your fitness journey

I have done so many and i mean by many as in so many research and readings for the past 3 years trying to find ways to start my fitness journey. And i am here to summarise everything that worked for me, hoping that it will work for you too.

I know how hard it is to start and even harder to stay consistent, that is why i prepared a guide and steps in order for you to start yours.

Lets get right to it.

FIRST OF ALL!

Know your 'WHYs'. You have to know why you wanna start your fitness journey. It could be to lose weight, to get stronger, to look lean, to feel good, to grow your booty, to become a body builder. Not gonna lie, at first it will be hard to know your 'whys', so how about this, if you are having a difficult time figuring it out, write down all the benefits of exercising or staying fit, then write down the different ways to stay fit (walking, running, jump rope, HIIT, lifting, swimming, spin classes, boxing etc). Now this is where i want you to do the research for yourself, this will guide you to the direction of what you want to try and what will work best for you. There is nothing wrong with trying out everything, this will help you so much in starting out. I tried so many fitness activities and without any pressure i learned so much about my body and what it can do until my body itself figured out what made it feel good. Until now i am still open to trying out new activities, do not limit yourself, enjoy every single thing and if you don't like it then move on to the next until you know what works for you THEN you will know your whys.

SECOND

Shift your mindset. You have to be grateful for your body. Thank it for moving and for pushing itself. If you keep feeding it with negative thoughts, your actions will be negative and the result will be negative. So feed your mind with good thoughts, give your body some love. Starting your fitness journey is not about REMOVING something you don't like. It is about IMPROVING it, taking care of our minds, our body and our soul. I know it is not easy to get rid of our insecurities or negative thoughts but you have to at least try to appreciate your body, no matter how it looks like, we were all built different so embrace it.

Here are some things i write down in my journal or say out loud to myself:

My body can move today

I am unique

I can hug someone

I can walk

I can touch

I can carry things

My body is my temple and i will take good care of it.

Feel free to add whatever you like. This is a great way to train your mind to shift to something more positive.

THIRD

Learn. Take some time to learn the movements, the activities, the muscles working, the food to nourish our body. Fitness is more than just moving, it is also about learning it. When you start your fitness journey it will push you to crave for more, you will learn more about the food your body actually needs, the movements that are way more effective and most importantly you will learn about what your body wants.

Always be open to learn more!

FOURTH

Invest in Gym clothes. This is not necessary but i think this is one way to keep you consistent as well. When i started, gym clothes were not really part of my list but when i started buying my first pair of cute gym set, i immediately felt more confident and kept pushing myself everyday to move. There are so many affordable gym sets, it does not have to be branded at all.

FIFTH

List down your goal. How i did this when i started was i gave myself a schedule. I gave myself 3 months to work on my fitness goal and showed up consistently. Depending your goal, it is better to set a scheduled time so that you can push yourself to show up.

Write it down, print it and stick it somewhere you can see everyday.

LASTLY

Do not be hard on yourself. Starting it out wont be easy but be proud because you chose to change and feel better. This is not going to be linear nor easy, getting out of your comfort zone will be hard but always remember step 1, know your WHY.

These are the simple few steps to start. I did not wanna be in depth with it as to not pressure you so much but i really hope this helped and feel free to email me if you have any questions. I learned so much from this and now it is my turn to share to you all.

Good luck and please be kind to yourself. :)
